In a previous post, we showed you the benefits of OverDentures and the amazing testimonial of Miss Rhonda and how OverDentures, implants, and veneers changed her life. But how exactly do they work?

OverDentures are a great alternative to traditional dentures because they are more stable and feel more natural. This is because they anchor directly to the jaw.

For patients missing multiple teeth an OverDenture may be the best way to achieve a natural looking and feeling smile.

Step 1:

If you already have a traditional denture the doctor will inspect it to ensure that it can be adapted to an Overdenture. If not, the Dentist will take an impression so that a denture can be made to fit perfectly in your mouth. You can wear this traditional denture while your implants heal in the next step

Step 2:

When prepping the area for an OverDenture the dentist places between 2 and 6 implant anchors. These implants are made of titanium. Titanium makes the perfect implant material. Not only is it lightweight and strong, but unlike other metals, it’s biocompatible (it is non-toxic and is not rejected by the body) and it osseointegrates (it can bond and become one with the bone). Once these implant sites heal and bond to the bone it’s time to customize your denture for the perfect fit

Step 3:

Now the dentist will make alterations to your new or existing denture, adding connection holes for the implants to snap into. The dentist will place and check your bite and the fit of the dentures to ensure that it is the perfect fit for your mouth.

Step 4:

Start enjoying your new natural feeling smile.

Your new OverDentures will allow for simple removal to allow you to clean the anchors and the Denture itself, while staying firmly in place throughout the day.
