First Dental Visit: When Should You Take Your Child

Do you ever wonder if there’s anything you might need to do if you’re interested in protecting your child’s pearly whites? There are a number of things you’ll need to consider doing, including visiting our dentist regularly. Naturally, when you visit our office, we’ll be happy to offer you advice tailored to your child’s needs.

We recommend scheduling your little one’s appointment about six months after their first tooth erupts—or when they’re about a year old. While your child may not need care when they’re a year old, starting dental care early can help your child adjust to dental visits.

During your first visit, our dentist will devote time to developing a friendly relationship with your little one. Our team will also explain how you can help your child brush and floss correctly and give you advice on helping your child stay strong. Of course, our team will also examine your child’s teeth, gums, jaws, and bite for signs of potential problems. We’ll also help you introduce your child to dental terminology, such as brushing and flossing.

If you’re interested in learning more about what will happen during your first appointment with us, please don’t hesitate to give Gateway Oaks Dental a call at 916-649-0249. Dr. Hoang Truong and our team will be happy to answer any questions you have and address any of your concerns. We’re eager to hear from you soon.
